Investor

Throughout my life, I have invested in people.  I am a firm believer that investing in others is not only good for the world, but good for ourselves.  Whether we invest or contribute with money, brain power, experience, our network, our time, we should invest in others.  As a female founder and investor, I have invested my time, network and money into multiple startups. From the startups I have built, to the ones I have helped scale, to the ones I have invested financially, I have always relished in investing in others. Below is a snapshot of some amazing startups I have invested in.

Financial Investments

Seven Seven Six is a venture capital firm founded by Alexis O’Hanian and Katelin Holloway.  Their focus is on supporting founders who are changing the world.  And as everyone knows, I am a die-hard tennis player, love Serena Williams (who is married to Alexis), have been following Alexis and his mission of supporting women and parent leave for a very long time, so becoming an LP in 776, was a no brainer for me. Proud to be part of what they are building and hope to continue to support them.

Maestro is an interactive video platform for creators looking to own, engage, and monetize audiences. I am an investor in their Series B round through the amazing Stadia Ventures, a sports tech accelerator where I am a judge, mentor, advisor and investor. As an athlete and one who is passionate about sports, health and fitness, I hope to be a leader for women, female athletes in the sports tech venture capital industry.

Angel Groups

SoGal Ventures & Fempire is an inclusive angel investing community with the power to change your life and the world. I love being a member of this angel investor community.

Plum Alley is an angel group that invests in forward learning technology and healthcare companies that will improve lives and the planet.  I am proud to be an investor and member of this angel group.

Mentorship, Advisory & Judge

I am a judge, mentor and advisor for Stadia Ventures, a global Sports Innovation Hub for entrepreneurs, industry partners and investors.

PearVC is a female founded venture capital fund based out of Silicon Valley investing in early stage startups. In 2020, I was a mentor and advisor to Sequel, a female founded startup that was part of PearVC’s accelerator program.

The Podium Project is a global sports business network with a mandate to champion women in sport innovation and entrepreneurship.  I am part of their Advisory Network dedicated to advancing women innovators in sports, media and technology.

I am a mentor for The Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at The University of Chicago. The Polsky Center was established in 1998 to support students and the surrounding South and West Side communities of Chicago interested in entrepreneurship, venture capital and private equity. I meet with founders on a monthly basis and advise them on how to build and scale their startups.

I am a judge, mentor and investor for The University of Chicago Booth School of Business Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation New Venture Challenge, one of the top three startup pitch competitions in the country. The founders I meet and advise in this program are some of the best, brightest and most prepared founders.  Apart from having a blast being back on campus and working with my professors from Booth, I am also very proud to support my alma mater.

Female Founder Community

As part of the Blazin' Babes community, one of our members launched a luxury landscape design and flower startup called Lotus & Lily.  We loved supporting her through promotions and featuring her work and talent at our events.

One of our very first Blazin' Babes events was at Indigo, a local boutique launched by one of our members and fellow female founder.  We hosted a mother-daughter event at the boutique in honor of Valentine’s Day where members and friends, together with their daughters made beaded bracelets and necklaces.  It was a beautiful event shared by all.

Sweet Buddha is a candy and gift storefront founded by one of our Blazin' Babes’ members and female founders.  We love Sweet Buddha and the countless children, parents and community of whom it serves.
